Michikazu Kojima

Michikazu Kojima has studied environmental issues in Asian developing countries, such as international trade of recyclable waste and hazardous waste, extended producer responsibility, and plastic pollution and others, since 1990, when he joined the Institute of Developing Economies, in Japan.

From 2018 to 2020, he was seconded to the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he was assigned to establish the Regional Knowledge Centre for Marine Plastic Debris in 2019, with support from the Ministry of Environment, Japan. He has also published academic papers on the circular economy, waste management, and plastic pollution.

Knowledge Management

From 2012 to 2014, Kojima was Course Leader of the JICA training course Seminar on Recycling Industrial Policy. He has also contributed to various capacity development programs of JICA.

Agility at Work

Kojima has also contributed to capacity development programs organized by JICA. His research was disseminated to government officers and the private sector in Asian developing countries.
