Jay Rajasekera

Dr. Jay Rajasekera is currently Vice President of Tokyo International University and Dean of its Graduate School of Business and Commerce. Previously, he was associated with the Graduate School of International Management, International University of Japan, as Vice President and Dean until the end of 2017.

After receiving his PhD, Dr. Rajasekara’s professional career started in 1984 at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey, USA. His contributions while at Bell Laboratories included designing computer algorithms for the world’s first undersea fiber optic cable, TAT-8, between the USA and Europe. The first demonstration of the World Wide Web by renowned computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee was performed using this cable.

Dr. Rajasekera has co-authored four books and published more than 50 management and technical articles in refereed journals and business periodicals. His opinion pieces have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan Times, and a number of other publications in Japan and elsewhere. His recent focuses include developing data-driven AI algorithms for real-time decision-making.
