Ms.Kamal Melvani

Kamal Melvani has been engaged in the restoration of degraded land in Sri Lanka for more than a decade.  She specializes in ecological restoration of farmers’ lands and has several demonstration projects in Sri Lanka. Restoration techniques used include regenerative/organic agriculture, analog and conservation forestry. Her work in the biomediation of nitrates in groundwater was listed as one of the world’s top ten water projects at the World Water Forum in 2009. Kamal holds a B. A. in Indian Philosophy from the University of Madras, India.  M. Sc. In integrated Water Resources Management from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka a Ph.D. on the value of forest gardens at the Charles Darwin University, Australia.
